The challenge of designing and producing reliable systems in complex combat vehicles
James Wasiloff is a Reliability Engineer with BAE Systems and is based in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
He said:“My position at BAE is principal reliability engineer for the AMPV Program. It’s called the Armed Multi-Purpose Vehicle. And I’m also working on various process improvement initiatives and new technologies including design for sigma, design for reliability."
"They are highly complex. They are many different systems and subsystems that are composed of highly complex hardware, software and electronics and many failure modes. It’s incredible. So, definitely, we’re using the tools and methods that HBK Prenscia and ReliaSoft] would be involved in."
"In my experience with HBK Prenscia and] ReliaSoft in previous assignments, we saw a willingness to respond to our needs. To add various capabilities, and to add details to the mode that maybe weren’t there today, but that they would look at the opportunity to meet those needs. So we found that to be very useful. They would respond to feedback."
