High‑stress qualification for mission-critical reliability

Environmental stress screening (ESS) verifies product stability under extreme heat or cold. Methods include highly accelerated lifetime testing (HALT) and highly accelerated stress screening (HASS).

ESS is widely used for military and industrial products, including automotive engine and in‑cabin components. Military testing typically spans –55 °C to +125 °C; industrial testing –40 °C to +85 °C.

HBK’s measurement solutions enable monitoring during ESS, revealing performance issues early under accelerated stress.

To perform environmental stress testing, a shaker – for example, a V875 or V8750 with a thermally-conditioned fixture and a thermal barrier – is fitted to an environmental chamber so that only the payload and the shaker fixture are inside the chamber. Depending on the type of test, the shaker can be in vertical or horizontal configuration.

The LASERUSB controller supports standardized testing, including testing according to MIL-STD-810 and DEF STAN 00-35.

For ESS programs conducted in extreme temperatures or high shock environments, HBK’s high temperature and high range measurement solutions provide stable, accurate data capture across challenging conditions. Complementary portable data acquisition tools can further streamline continuous monitoring and analysis during environmental test campaigns.
